Doubts are being cast on whether Meghan Markle is anywhere close to reuniting with her estranged father, Thomas Markle, following his recent health crisis.

The Duchess of Sussex, 44, is said to have attempted to reach out after learning that her father had undergone emergency surgery after falling seriously ill at his home in the Philippines.

Thomas, 81, reportedly had his lower leg and foot amputated and, while he has since left intensive care, he remains in hospital recovering.

Despite reports suggesting Meghan made efforts to make contact, sources close to the situation have played down the likelihood of an imminent reconciliation.

According to insiders cited by The Times, a reunion between father and daughter is still “too soon to say.”

Meghan has been estranged from her father since 2018, the the same year she married Prince Harry at Windsor Castle.

Since that breakdown in their relationship, the pair have not been in contact, and Thomas Markle has never met his son-in-law or his grandchildren, Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

While THomas’s health scare has prompted renewed speculation about a possible reconciliation, those close to the Duchess suggest that the deep rift between them is unlikely to be resolved quickly, despite the gravity of the situation.
