Katy Perry may be dating Justin Trudeau but those close to the couple insist the power dynamic isn’t what people think.
According to a new report from RadarOnline.com, the 41-year-old singer is entirely self-sufficient in the relationship, while the former Canadian Prime Minister is far more dependent on the romance than he lets on.
“Justin needs this relationship way more than Katy does, and everybody around her knows that,” a source claimed.
The insider added that Perry isn’t interested in the political flash that comes with dating a world figure, saying, “Katy doesn’t want or need any more of that stuff. But it’s Justin’s lifeblood, it’s the only thing keeping him relevant.”
The couple’s relationship rumours first stirred in July 2025 just weeks after the Dark Horse singer ended her engagement to Orlando Bloom.
The Hot N Cold singer continues to co-parent her four-year-old daughter named Daisy Dove Bloom whom she shares with Orlando.
Meanwhile, Trudeau finalised his divorce from Sophie Grégoire in 2023 after 18 years of marriage and shares three children with her.
The couple confirmed their ties with Trudeau, joining the star singer on her birthday hand in hand. While their relationship is still blooming, insiders say Perry is not worried about it at all.
“She’s fine on her own,” the source said. “He’s the one who needs her.”
