Kid Cudi’s comment comparing his career to Michael Jackson’s might have not had any ill will behind it, but the way it was worded sparked a lot of backlash.
The Happy Gilmore 2 actor took to his X to reply to someone who said that the Thriller hit maker could never be surpassed.
“Michael was the greatest, but he was just music. Im thinking more than music. I wanna be known as one of the greatest bcuz of my range creatively in the arts. Music, visual arts (painting), fashion, directing, acting etc,” wrote the Day 'n' Nite rapper.
Cudi’s remarks came across as him downplaying the greatness of the world famous singer and was quickly bashed and deleted by the singer himself.
However, it was too late since the remark has now made headlines and internet users are taking to their social media to talk about the King of Pop’s lasting impact and legacy.
One netizen wrote on the platform, “michael jackson basically invented short film music videos. created dance moves used by dancers to this day. mtv played more mv’s with artists of color once billie jean mv came out. first and only recording artist inducted in national museum of dance and hall of fame.”
Another wrote, And kid cudi ain’t even recognised in “just music” let alone other fields,” with many others echoing similar sentiments.
Kid Cudi and Cassie Ventura dated for a short period of time in 2011, and the relationship was quickly ended by the Is It You singer.
