Long before Meghan Markle became globally known as the Duchess of Sussex and wife of Prince Harry, she lived a very different life, including a previous marriage to Hollywood producer Trevor Engelson.
The pair tied the knot in 2011 after dating since 2004, but the marriage ended in 2013. It wasn’t until 2016 that Meghan met Prince Harry, and less than two years later, they exchanged vows in a royal wedding watched by millions.
Although Trevor rarely speaks publicly about Meghan’s life today, a surprising detail about his reaction to her dating Harry has been revealed, and it apparently came down to just three words.
The revelation surfaced on The Toast podcast, where TV personality Bethenny Frankel recounted a brief friendship with Trevor years earlier after meeting him at a bar.
She explained that they stayed in touch only sporadically via text, and one of those rare messages ended up being about Meghan, now 44.
Bethenny recalled meeting Trevor at Soho House in Chicago and shared exactly what happened next: “He said his ex was a woman from a show called Suits. Months later I see pictures in US weekly of Harry dating someone and I text him to say ‘is this your ex?’.”
According to Bethenny, Trevor confirmed it was indeed Meghan who had begun dating Prince Harry. She added that she replied by texting him: “Do you think she’ll close?”
No further explanation was given on the podcast, leaving fans unsure of what the term “close” referred to in this particular context.
