Timothée Chalamet didn’t hold back his admiration for Adam Sandler during the Sandler x Chalamet event in Los Angeles on November 15.
The conversation, held in a packed Fairfax High School gymnasium, gave the stars a chance to discuss their careers, watch clips from their filmographies, and share insights into their craft.
Chalamet singled out Sandler’s 2006 performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Punch-Drunk Love, calling it “one of the most important performances. It’s impactful, deeply moving.”
Chalamet admitted he grew up knowing Sandler for his comedic roles, making the dramatic turn even more impressive.
“Seeing that thrown against the context of your other work, I’m like, ‘Wow, this is a fucking incredible actor. I hope I can give a performance like this,’” he said.
The praise didn’t stop there. Chalamet continued, “I know it’s not about awards, blah, blah, blah, but you should have a golden man in your hand, because, man, you’re one of the best fucking actors of all time.”
Sandler returned the compliment, lauding Chalamet’s artistry.
“What you continue to do for cinema and for all of us is beyond it all. I just cannot wait to see what you bring in the future,” he said.
The event also offered fans a sneak peek at their upcoming projects, Marty Supreme and Jay Kelly, as the duo proved that mutual respect and admiration can be as compelling as the performances themselves.
