King Charles may be dealing with two of the most difficult scandals to hit the Royal Family in decades, but according to insiders, he has adopted a remarkably savvy strategy to steer the monarchy through the storm.
As the King marks his 77th birthday, he continues a packed schedule of engagements in South Wales, including overseeing the official opening of the South Wales Metro Depot, all while still receiving cancer treatment.
In recent weeks, Charles has faced continued fallout over Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ties to Jeffrey Epstein, as well as the ongoing tension sparked by Prince Harry’s exit from royal life and his repeated public criticisms, including in his explosive memoir Spare.
Yet, rather than retreating, the King appears more determined than ever to demonstrate stability and leadership.
Royal expert Jennie Bond told the Mirror: "I’m not surprised to see the King racing around the country, carrying out as many engagements as he can fit in - despite his long-suffering wife’s appeals to take things a little more slowly because of his cancer."
"But I’m sure he believes that if he just carries on fulfilling as many engagements as possible and being seen to care deeply about this country and its people, which he does, he can salvage that reputation."
Despite it being his birthday, Charles is expected to continue working throughout the day, though Bond predicts Queen Camilla will ensure he is celebrated properly later on. "But I’m sure Camilla will have planned some sort of small celebration later in the day."
"It may be just the two of them enjoying a quiet dinner together, or perhaps a few of their friends will be invited to join in. Either way, I’ve no doubt the Queen will make a fuss of her man."
