Akon, who is known for his chart-topping songs, seemingly wrote and sang about his recent situation over a decade ago.
It was reported that the Smack That hitmaker was taken in to custody on November 7, 2025 as he missed a court date for an earlier 2023 incident in Georgia.
The music icon was busted for not appearing before the court in relation to a case from nearly two years ago when he drove his Tesla Cybertruck “on a suspended license” or “without proof of insurance.”
While few fans were concerned for their favourite artist, the online community was instantly reminded of his song Locked up that was released on April 5, 2004.
One of the X users speculated that the track will be “going platinum” while another netizen quoted the lyric: “Locked up… they won’t let me out!”
An admirer suggested the singer to “be careful of the words that come out [of] your mouth.”
Although the song’s streams might blow up, Akon is currently held in jail with no further details about his release in sight.
According to the officers, the license “was suspended for a failure to appear from back in January 2023.” An illegal vape was also discovered from the scene which was seized “during the inventory.”
This came right before the Right Now crooner’s upcoming concert in India which is scheduled for November 14, 2025 with more performances to continue in 2026.
