Taylor Swift, known for her chart-topping hits, has earned glowing praise from Marcus Mumford after secretly recording parts of her hit 2020 album evermore at his home studio in the U.K.

The 38-year-old Mumford & Sons frontman revealed the story during the Wednesday, Nov. 12 episode of the Table Manners podcast, and it’s as delightfully unexpected as it sounds.

Mumford said producer Aaron Dessner called him during the pandemic, asking if he had a “discreet” place to record.

“I was like, ‘Cool, if it’s one of your homies, I’m sure it’ll be fine. Like, what if it’s Beyoncé or something?’” he joked. “And it was Taylor f------ Swift.”

The singer described Swift as “the most phenomenal house guest,” sharing that she stayed at his place “right at the end of COVID.”

He added, “She burned a lot of vegetables, but she brought a killer candle. Her candle game was excellent.”

The 35-year-old Bad Blood hitmaker, who also made headlines this year with the release of her 12th studio album, recorded the second half of evermore at Mumford’s home studio.

Moreover, she even convinced him to sing background vocals on “cowboy like me,” a fan-favourite track about two con artists falling in love.

The duo later reunited on stage during the Lover singer’s Eras Tour in Las Vegas on March 25, 2023, performing an acoustic duet of the song.

“She’s just the real deal — talented, generous, and smells incredible,” Mumford summed it up.
