Luigi Mangioni has already garnered a significant amount of attention online for being good-looking and for allegedly deserving less jail time, but now the inmate is going viral for name-dropping Taylor Swift.
The Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center prisoner, whose trial is currently ongoing for the murder of UnitedHealthCare CEO Brian Thompson, has detailed his playlist choices in a letter.
In an excerpt from the now-viral letter, Luigi writes, “Last week, I downloaded a bunch of Taylor Swift and Charli XCX onto my tablet. I’ve never really listened to either of them.”
The 27-year-old added that a fake list of his favourite songs was circulating online, so he decided that rather than setting the record straight, he would actually give a listen to the massive artists that are currently not getting along.
"So I’m walking laps on the top tier of my unit listening to ‘Cardigan’ by Taylor Swift when one of the other inmates, ‘King,’ calls me over to see what I’m listening to. He scolds me for a while, then replaces all my music. Now I listen to Lil Durk,” Luigi wrote.
The inmate noted that the song he is grateful for now, after crossing out Cardigan, is Dis Ain’t What U Want by the rapper who himself is facing a federal murder-for-hire case.
It seems that the rivalry between Charli and Taylor reportedly stems from the former’s song Sympathy is a knife, in which she talks about being insecure of a woman in the shares space with her boyfriend.
Taylor has since responded with her track Actually Romantic in which she sarcastically notes that she is flattered by the attention.
