Meghan Markle has added “journalist” to her growing résumé after penning an article for the prestigious Town & Country magazine.
The Duchess of Sussex, 44, interviewed Avery Colvert, the 14-year-old founder of Altadena Girls, an organisation helping young women access beauty and personal care supplies amid California’s devastating wildfires.
Meghan first met Avery earlier this year after personally donating supplies and volunteering her time to support the teen’s grassroots effort.
Deeply moved by Avery’s story, Meghan chose to spotlight her work in the US publication.
In the article, the Duchess praised Avery for turning compassion into action, writing: “The question that unified us all—‘how can I help?’—was more complicated than it seemed. Avery found an answer.”
She described the teen’s determination to help her peers feel “confident and like themselves again” as both “amazing to watch” and “inspirational.”
Reflecting on Avery’s mother-daughter partnership, Meghan, herself a proud mom to Princess Lilibet, added tenderly: “If our daughter turns out to be anything like you, I’ll be the proudest mom.”
