Meghan Markle may never return to the UK alongside Prince Harry because she “knows how unpopular she is,” according to royal expert Phil Dampier.
Speaking on The Sun’s Royal Exclusive podcast, Dampier suggested the Duchess of Sussex, 44, is fully aware of her low standing with the British public and is unlikely to risk the negative attention a UK visit could bring.
“I think the only time Harry will come back here is on his own,” Dampier said. “She knows how unpopular she is here.”
The latest YouGov poll continues to place her near the bottom among members of the Royal Family.
Rumours have circulated in recent weeks that the Sussexes are considering a partial return to the UK, though insiders say such a move is highly unlikely.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry has reportedly written to Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood in a renewed attempt to secure automatic police protection while visiting the country, which he currently receives only on a case-by-case basis.
