Drew Barrymore stole the spotlight at the 2025 Daytime Emmy Awards, ending Kelly Clarkson’s five-year winning streak in dramatic fashion.
The glitzy ceremony, hosted by Mario Lopez at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium on Friday night, saw Barrymore crowned Outstanding Daytime Talk Series Host for The Drew Barrymore Show, while Clarkson was completely shut out for the first time since 2019.
The talk show also picked up trophies for best directing team and hairstyling/makeup, taking home three awards in total.
Following the win, the Blended actress took to Instagram to share her excitement and gratitude.
She wrote, “I am so grateful for the Daytime Emmy Award for Daytime Talk Series Host. Thank you to every single amazing person that makes @thedrewbarrymoreshow possible.
I love each and every one of you so much. This is not my show."
Adding to the shake-up, Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos’ Live With Kelly and Mark triumphed as Outstanding Daytime Talk Series, ending The Kelly Clarkson Show’s four-year reign.
Neither the 50-year-old actress nor the Live duo attended the event, likely unaware they were about to dethrone daytime’s biggest name.
General Hospital was the night’s biggest winner with seven trophies, while Entertainment Tonight celebrated its sixth consecutive win for entertainment news.
In another historic moment, Sir David Attenborough, 99, became the oldest Emmy winner ever for his Netflix series Secret Lives of Orangutans.
Despite her technical wins for lighting and sound, Clarkson’s fans were stunned by the snub.
