Limp Bizkit bassist Sam Rivers tragically dies at 48

The founder and bassist of the band Limp Bizkit, Sam Rivers has tragically passed away at the age of 48.

The news was announced by the group on their social media as they described him as not "just our bass player" but "the soul in the sound."

"From the first note we ever played together, Sam brought a light and a rhythm that could never be replaced. His talent was effortless, his presence unforgettable, his heart enormous," wrote the members of the band.

The cause of his passing has not yet been revealed.

Other members of Limp Bizkit include Fred Durst, John Otto, DJ Lethal, as they teamed up with Rivers to begin the group in 1994.

Some of their most successful albums include ones like Significant Other, Chocolate Starfish and The Hot Dog Flavored Water, with their most popular singles being Take a Look Around as well as Rollin' (Air Raid Vehicle).

"We shared so many moments - wild ones, quiet ones, beautiful ones - and every one of them meant more because Sam was there," they continued in the statement.

DJ Lethal admitted under the announcement, "We are in shock.”
