Magnolia rapper Playboi Carti is facing misdemeanor assault charges in Utah, earlier this month, according to law enforcement officials, following an alleged fight with a limousine driver.
Authorities stated the incident occurred on October 2 in Park City, when Carl Reynolds, a limousine driver, reported that Carti allegedly assaulted him and his girlfriend.
The news was first reported by TMZ, which claimed the incident took place while Reynolds was transporting the pair from the Waldorf Astoria to a rehearsal.
Reynolds told police that an argument broke out inside the vehicle between Carti and his girlfriend, prompting him to intervene.
He alleged that both he and Carti’s girlfriend were struck during the altercation, after which he pulled over to a safer location in Heber City.
While no additional sources have provided more details about the case, Reynolds reportedly said that Carti’s head of security stepped in to de-escalate the situation.
He also mentioned that another driver from ALC A Limousine Connection, the company he works for, witnessed the alleged altercation.
Officers from the Wasatch County Police Department responded to the scene and documented Reynolds’ injuries. Authorities confirmed that an investigation is currently ongoing.
Reports indicate that Reynolds intends to seek legal counsel, stating his main concern is preventing further harm.
