The author behind the best selling hit, I Want To Die But I Want To Eat Tteokbokki, Baek Se-hee has passed away at 35.

The book, which was a compilation of conversations that she had held with her psychiatrist, became a global phenomenon upon its release.

Originally written and published in Korea, it attracted a global audience after being translated into English in 2022.

The details of her sudden passing are unclear at this time.

The Korean Organ Donation Agency revealed in a statement that the author had donated several of her organs, namely her heart, lungs, liver and kidneys, and had saved five lives through doing so.

A comment from her sister was included in the statement where she claimed that Baek hoped to "share her heart with others through her work, and to inspire hope".

I Want to Die but I Want to Eat Tteokbokki came out in 2018, and has sold over a million copies since then, having been translated in over 25 countries.

Fans of the author have been grieving her passing all across social media, with growing curiosity over the cause of her passing.
