Prince Andrew's Epstein email scandal has 'tragic' ripple effect on royal family

Prince Andrew’s latest controversy over his ties to the late convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein has had a “truly tragic” impact on the Royal Family, a royal expert has warned.

The Duke of York, 65, is facing fresh backlash after newly surfaced emails revealed he contacted Epstein three months after claiming to have cut ties with him.

While the Duke has long denied Giuffre’s allegations, royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams told Express UK that this latest twist is overshadowing the monarchy’s positive work.

“This is truly tragic as it often overshadows the wonderful work the monarch, still battling cancer, and Prince William do to enhance our use of soft power and for charity,” he said.

“The Royal Family don’t know what they’re facing or when, since it’s perfectly obvious there is likely to be more to come,” he warned.

The 2011 email, allegedly sent the day after the now-infamous photo of Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, who accused him of sexual assault, was published, reads: “I’m just as concerned for you! Don’t worry about me! It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it.”

Andrew also reportedly signed off with, “We’ll play some more soon!!!!”
