Prince Andrew is facing renewed backlash over his ties to Jeffrey Epstein, with royal insiders reportedly urging him to “leave the country” after explosive new evidence emerged.
The Duke of York, who stepped back from royal duties in 2019 following public outrage over his friendship with the disgraced financier, is once again under fire after a newly surfaced email allegedly sent to Epstein contradicted Andrew’s past claims.
In his infamous 2019 BBC Newsnight interview, the Duke insisted he had cut ties with Epstein in December 2010.
However, a 2011 email published by The Sun and Mail on Sunday allegedly shows Andrew telling Epstein: “I’m just as concerned for you! Don’t worry about me! It would seem we are in this together and will have to rise above it.”
The email was reportedly sent just one day after the photo of Andrew and Virginia Giuffre, Epstein’s alleged victim, was made public.
Royal staff are said to be “exasperated and frustrated,” with The Sun’s royal editor Matt Wilkinson calling for Andrew to step away entirely: “If he has an honourable bone in his body, he should leave the country.”
