Rock fans are in mourning following the death of celebrated drummer Thommy Price at the age of 68.
Thommy, best known for his electrifying work with Joan Jett & The Blackhearts and Billy Idol, passed away on Friday, October 10.
Paying tribute on Facebook, his wife, Stefunny called her husband “a devoted husband, proud father, and powerhouse drummer and songwriter.”
“His energy, kindness, humour, and unmatched rhythm left an indelible mark on everyone who knew him and every stage he graced,” she added.
Thommy’s decades-long career saw him perform with some of rock’s biggest names.
Notably, he joined Joan Jett & The Blackhearts in 1987 and remained with the band until 2017.
Jett honoured her former drummer on Instagram, sharing a video montage of his performances: “We lost a member of the Blackheart family, the one-of-a-kind Thommy Price.
He was a drummer’s drummer and admired by so many. Our hearts are heavy. Sending love to his beautiful family. We love you Thommy.”
Thommy also played with Billy Idol during the 1980s, contributing to the iconic Rebel Yell album and touring on the Rebel Yell and Whiplash Smile tours.
Idol said he will “miss his immense talent and heart,” calling him a true friend and musical partner.
Throughout his career, he worked with artists including Scandal, Mink DeVille, Love Crushed Velvet, Roger Daltrey, The Waterboys, Blue Oyster Cult, The Psychedelic Furs, Ronnie Spector, and Debbie Harry.
One of his final recorded performances featured on NYC Made (2025), the solo album by former Blackhearts guitarist Ricky Byrd.
For the unversed, he leaves behind his wife and daughter, Brooklyn.
