Royal family released a statement after Queen Camilla made a public appearance following a personal loss.
On October 11, Buckingham Palace's spokesperson shared that the senior working royal stepped out in Windsor to open the 2025 Cliveden Literary Festival after the death of her pal and the 88-year-old author Dame Jilly Cooper.
A series of photos was released on the royal family's official social media channels, featuring the beaming Queen delivering a speech and interacting with guests at the event.
Alongside the pictures, the statement reads, "Earlier today, The Queen officially opened the 2025 Cliveden Literary Festival, before hosting a reception for authors, festival supporters, charity partners, and students from the London Academy of Excellence Tottenham."
The Palace's team also shared a part of Camilla's speech in which she was recalling the importance of literature back in the day.
She said, "There are few houses and gardens in England that are quite as steeped in literature as this one. Rudyard Kipling lived in the early 1900s. JM Barrie enjoyed strolling in the woods. George Bernard Shaw briefly came to escape the Blitz. Henry James and Edith Wharton holidayed here."
Queen added, "The estate is praised in Jerome K Jerome’s “Three Men in a Boat”, it inspired Kenneth Grahame to write ‘The Wind in the Willows’ and I understand that it is even possible to order Ian Fleming’s “Vesper Martini” at the bar – a drink that was a favourite of the late, much-missed Dame Jilly Cooper."
Queen Camilla remembered her friend Dame Jilly while addressing the attendees.
