Queen Camilla released an emotional statement on the passing of her good friend and author Dame Jilly Cooper.
The writer of various famous books died at the age of 88, leaving her family, friends and fans in shock.
While paying a heartfelt tribute to her pal, Queen penned a personal note, reading, "I was so saddened to learn of Dame Jilly’s death last night."
She added, "Very few writers get to be a legend in their own lifetime, but Jilly was one, creating a whole new genre of literature and making it her own through a career that spanned over five decades."
"In person, she was a wonderfully witty and compassionate friend to me and so many – and it was a particular pleasure to see her just a few weeks ago at my Queen’s Reading Room Festival, where she was, as ever, a star of the show."
Queen said that she and her husband, King Charles, are sending their deep "thoughts and sympathies" to Dame Jilly's family.
"And may her hereafter be filled with impossibly handsome men and devoted dogs. Camilla R," the royal concluded her message.
For the unversed, Dame Jilly Cooper's children announced the sad news of their mother's death today, October 6.
They called her the "shining light" of their lives and expressed their pride over her lifelong achievements.
