Princess Anne's cheeky nickname for King Charles revealed

Princess Anne has revealed a cheeky nickname she uses for her brother, King Charles, proving once again that even the royals share playful sibling moments behind palace doors.

The Princess Royal, 75, shares a famously close bond with the King, who is less than two years her senior. 

Their affectionate relationship was captured in the 2023 BBC documentary Charles III: The Coronation Year, where cameras caught Anne greeting her brother at Buckingham Palace just after his coronation.

In the clip, Anne can be heard saying, “Hello, Old Bean,” as she walks up to the newly crowned monarch. 

The King immediately bursts into laughter before kissing his sister’s hand.

Royal commentator Hannah Furniss described the moment as “lovely,” adding that Anne remains one of Charles’s most trusted confidantes.

“She’s probably in a better position than anyone to give him advice, a bit of sympathy when he needs it, or even a pep talk,” Furniss said. 

“She understands how the Royal Family works, with an eye to both the past and the future.”
