Aubrey O’Day has dished some valuable hints for up-and-coming artists to protect themselves from becoming victims of people in power, such as Diddy.
The 41-year-old was mentored by the Bad Boy Records founder, since he founded and signed her former band Danity Kane on the reality TV show Making the Band.
After the Mo Money Mo Problems singer was sentenced to a little over four years in prison, the model took to her X to issue a warning to starry eyed aspirants looking to make it big, that they should be careful and draw boundaries.
Aubrey began by telling aspirants that the warning wasn’t that a jury might doubt their testimony or that their abuser’s sentencing might not seem sufficient for the things they endured.
“The real warning is this: the moment someone in a position of power oversteps your boundaries or demands more than is legitimately required of you, walk away and do not look back. No dream, however bright, can outweigh the pain and exploitation that may follow if you remain,” she wrote.
The TV star continued, “Too often, those who misuse their power, even when exposed, face far fewer consequences than the harm inflicted upon their victims. Protect yourself at the first sign of coercion or impropriety.”
Notably, Diddy’s victims from the infamous trial had expressed fear of retaliation from him following his release, and have even repeatedly stated that nothing can undo the trauma they have endured.
Diddy has been sentenced to 50 months in prison after being convicted of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution.
