Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson can’t stop praising each other following the release of The Smashing Machine.

At the Los Angeles premiere of the A24 film, Blunt reflected on her friendship with Johnson while speaking to PEOPLE.

“Oh my God, he’s just the best friend,” Blunt said. “He is endlessly joyful about other people’s successes. He’s innately kind. He’s wise.”

She went on to praise The Rock for his unwavering support and thoughtful advice.

“He gives incredible advice. He’s steady,” she added. “That zen Polynesian vibe, he lives by it. And in that way, he’s a very calming person to talk to when you’re in the chaos of what this industry can be sometimes.”

Johnson, whose mother, Ata Johnson, is Samoan, is of Polynesian descent.

He and Blunt first bonded while filming the 2021 fantasy adventure Jungle Cruise.

Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 8, Blunt reflected on how quickly their friendship developed.

“We just became very fast friends, like an immediate secret language,” the Oppenheimer star shared. “You sometimes feel that instant connection with certain people you work with.”
