Jennifer Aniston’s role as a news anchor in the Apple TV+ series The Morning Show has been a commendable experience for her.
The Emmy-winning actress, who plays journalist Alex Levy in the series, told PEOPLE that while it has “been such a fun character to play,” it has also given her a deeper understanding of the life of a journalist.
"I have the utmost respect for journalists," she said at the New York City premiere of Season 4 on September 9. "I mean, I always have — but even more so now."
"Especially morning anchors," Aniston added. "It's a grind."
Beyond admiration for journalists, playing Alex has also been cathartic for Aniston. When asked about her own relationship with fame in comparison to her character, she reflected,
"Oh my goodness," she said. "Well, there's definitely some mirroring going on."
"I think Alex is a lot more expressive and verbal than I am," Aniston explained. "You get that out of your system — in the best way."
She added, "I love playing her."
In Season 4, Aniston’s character and her UBA team — including Reese Witherspoon, Billy Crudup, Karen Pittman, Nicole Beharie, Mark Duplass, and Greta Lee — face “new responsibilities, hidden motives, and the elusive nature of truth in a polarized America” following the network’s merger with NBN.
