Tom Cruise, best known for his death-defying action sequences and high-octane stunts, is set to take on an entirely different kind of challenge in his next film.
According to director Alejandro González Iñárritu, Cruise’s upcoming untitled dark comedy will show audiences a side of him they’ve never seen before.
Speaking to IndieWire, Iñárritu teased that the actor’s performance will “surprise the world,” promising fans “a new kind of thing.”
Reflecting on his working relationship with Cruise, the Oscar-winning Revenant director praised the Mission: Impossible star’s manners and passion for his craft.
“His manners, his understanding, his passion, and his integrity, and the way he prepares,” Iñárritu said. “He loves the process. Filmmaking has been his life for 40 years. I have never seen somebody so devoted. I was happy to share with him that passion. And at the same time, we built an incredible relationship of mutual trust.”
Iñárritu went on to share how much fun he had working with Cruise and the rest of the ensemble cast on set. The film is slated for release on October 2, 2026.
“We had a blast. It was challenging, but it was wild comedy. And we laughed a lot. We had a wild time,” Iñárritu teased.
