Taylor Swift’s 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, was released yesterday, and it wasn’t hard to figure out the references to her fiancé, Travis Kelce, in the lyrics.
Following the album release on Oct. 3, at the official release party of A Showgirl held in theatres on Oct. 4, there were shocking, subtle references to the NFL legend.
So, here are the top three noticeable Easter eggs from The Life of a Showgirl movie theatre release, but beware, it could be a spoiler for you.
In the new record, The Fate of Ophelia, there are a number of lyrics that reflect on Swift and Kelce’s relationship.
Even Swift herself confirmed the speculations in an interview with Capital FM.
"Travis' birthstone is an opal, so I've always fixated on that, I've always loved that stone," she said. "I thought it was kind of a cool metaphor."
In the premiere music video, Swift dramatically catches a football, discussed in BTS with Mandy Moore, highlighting a playful nod to fiancé Kelce’s football career.
The football moment received major screen time in the 90-minute-long music video.
Swift’s theatrical release also featured behind-the-scenes footage for The Fate of Ophelia, showing the Grammy-winning singer rehearsing with her team.
Whilst planning, Swift can be spotted multiple times wearing an otter T-shirt, which is a potential and cute reference to her shared love for little animals with Kelce.
Previously, when Swift announced her 12th studio album on the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, she revealed that Kelce showed her a video of otters on his phone.
During their conversation, the couple said that the Kansas City Chiefs tight end wants to find and rescue a wild otter, something that Swift quipped as “stuff you didn’t know you needed to know.”
The final Easter egg appeared in the Honey lyric video, where Swift repeatedly walks past a door marked 87, Kelce’s football number.
Before the song, she explained that Honey once felt cynical until love changed its meaning, subtly hinting that Kelce inspired this sweeter interpretation through their relationship.
