Taylor Swift just dropped her 12th studio album and it has left many disappointed.

While the new album, The Life of a Showgirl, is all about glamour, up beat pop vibes and performances, but it lacks quality lyricism the singer is known for.

The 12-track album is riddled with many “cringe” lyrics as dubbed by listeners who questioned if Taylor has lost her touch.

The pop star is known for her autobiographical songwriting that is often inspired from her personal life and complex emotions she pours into her songs.

However, this one just falls flat and not in a whimsy way.

Here are the top lyrics that left many unimpressed.

Dig at Charli XCX

The album’s track called Actually Romantic is reportedly a dig at English singer Charli XCX.

The lyrics go “I heard you called me boring Barbie when the Coke’s got your brave”.

While Taylor tried to make a “diss track” it is difficult to go past the opening line.

Thrashing ex lovers

The song Opalite, which is sonically being praised, lyrically is still no where Taylor’s best works.

Calling her exes “trash” she writes “I had a bad habit of missing lovers past. My brother used to call it, 'Eating out of the trash'”.

Sympathy for Eldest Daughters

When the track list was announced, all eyes were on the track 5, which historically is Taylor’s most emotional and sentimental song on her albums.

The track being called Eldest Daughter brought an element of being relatable for all eldest daughters but this one is just corny.

The song goes “Every eldest daughter was the first lamb to the slaughter”, which is as banal as it can get.

Music Charts

This lyric is up to the listeners interpretation in a way that no one understand what it really means.

In the song Elizabeth Taylor she sings “I been number one but I never had two”.

She was seemingly trying to do a folklore vibe but it missed the mark.

Kids with Travis Kelce

Taylor’s love story with Travis Kelce is a major theme that inspired the new album but it lacks the singer’s signature love-song charm.

The song Wi$h LiSt includes a line “Have a couple kids, Got the whole block looking like you”.

You expect a little more from the pop icon who wrote Lover, Love Story, Call It What You Want and Cornelia Street.
