Young Thug’s latest social media posts have sparked widespread concern about the rapper’s wellbeing, since he appears to be taking his album reception quite personally.
The Go Crazy rapper’s highly anticipated fourth studio album UY Scuti dropped on September 26, and has only received backlash and hate as part of its reception from fans and critics alike.
It has been called out for the cover art, the artistic choices in different areas and even the music itself has been dragged by online users.
The backlash even prompted the 34-year-old to somewhat explain the creative decisions in Adin Ross’s livestream, but that didn’t stop the hate train either.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) Thug made some disturbing remarks that made it seem like the online discourse had pushed him to have suicidal thoughts.
“If I didn’t have kids I wouldn’t care to live,” he wrote in a now-deleted post, meanwhile in another he stated, “I did a lot of taking up for people all over this world, and so far I’ve yet to see someone take up for me.”
Notably, Thug also pointedly added that he feels like he isn’t winning with the people he was supposed to be winning with, likely referring to his fans.
Young Thug and his YSL associates were arrested in May 2022 for illegal firearm trafficking and possession.
The Atlanta artist was released in October 2024 on a 15-year probation after making a plea deal.
