Selena Gomez, Benny Blanco bizarre wedding gift sparks controversy

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco, who got engaged in December 2024, received a distinguished wedding gift before they walk down the aisle.

While the 33-year-old singer once admitted enjoying a high protein chicken salad sandwich, Selena and Benny’s present was eyebrow-raising.

According to TMZ, the couple were send a gift and a letter from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals), which instantly sparked controversy.

The letter mentioned the record executive’s favourite combination: “chips, crème fraiche, chives and caviar veganized!”

It was noted in the special message that “Caviar doesn’t have to come from cruelty. If you want luxury without suffering, just Come & Get It.”

While there were many playful nods towards the pop icon, the online community started raising questions about the bizarre treat.

One of the Instagram users reminded on the outlet's update: “Plants live & breath as well peta,’ while another poked fun at the pack of crisps: “Poor potatoes. They didn’t have to die for this.”

A third asked if the crisps “are vegan” too? Whereas, a critic quoted George Bernard Shaw, writing: “The longer I live, the more convinced am I that this planet is used by other planets as a lunatic asylum.”

What is PETA?

Selena and Benny are yet to respond or acknowledge the efforts of the organization which is notable for preserving the rights of animals to live.
