American comedian Jimmy Fallon has voiced his full support for fellow late-night star Jimmy Kimmel following ABC’s surprising decision to pull his show from the air.

Kimmel’s suspension came after comments he made regarding the alleged killer of Charlie Kirk, which led Brendan Carr, chairman of the FCC, to pressure ABC into taking action.

The 50-year-old television host addressed the matter on the September 18 edition of The Tonight Show.

Fallon opened his monologue with a blunt quip: “The big story is that Jimmy Kimmel was suspended by ABC after pressure from the FCC, leaving everyone thinking, ‘WTF?’”

He quickly turned serious, praising the 57-year-old comedian as “a decent, funny and loving guy” and expressing hope for his swift return.

Fallon also highlighted the broader implications for late-night comedy, joking about potential censorship.

He vowed to continue covering President Donald Trump “just like I normally would,” although a studio voiceover humourously interrupted, replacing his words with exaggerated praise for the president.

Notably, Kimmel’s controversial suspension has prompted an outpouring of support from fellow hosts.

Jon Stewart made a rare surprise appearance on The Daily Show, Seth Meyers described it as “an honour” to know Kimmel, and Stephen Colbert condemned the move as a “blatant assault” on free speech.

Even former late-night legend David Letterman commented at The Atlantic Festival, calling ABC’s decision “ridiculous.”

Is Jimmy Fallon next in line for cancellation?

Former President Donald Trump criticised Jimmy Kimmel over his remarks about Charlie Kirk’s death, and suggesting his show be cancelled.

He also targeted other late-night hosts, including Jimmy Fallon, describing them as “total losers” with “terrible” ratings.

This has sparked speculation that Fallon could be the next in line for cancellation.
