King Charles could visit the US after Trumps successful royal visit

Donald Trump is reportedly planning to extend a special invitation to King Charles following what he described as a “fantastic” second state visit to the UK.

The US President, 79, and First Lady Melania were treated to an unprecedented display of pomp and pageantry during their historic trip to Windsor this week.

According to a White House insider, the visit has left such a strong impression that Mr Trump now hopes to return the gesture across the Atlantic.

Speaking to The Telegraph, the official said: “It was a really fantastic trip. The British know how to do this perfectly. They set the bar high for their trip to see us.”

The possibility of King Charles making a future visit to the US would mark the first by a British monarch since Queen Elizabeth II travelled in 2007 to meet then-President George W. Bush.

Before ascending the throne, Charles made over 20 trips to America in his role as Prince of Wales, most recently in 2018, when he represented his late mother at Bush’s funeral.
