Ellen DeGeneres, best known for her voice role as Dory in Finding Nemo, has faced a major setback.
The 67-year-old former chat show queen is reportedly embroiled in a bombshell lawsuit in the US after being accused of causing a car accident.
The news emerged just as Ellen was settling into her fresh start in the English countryside with wife Portia de Rossi.
According to court documents obtained by People magazine, the star has been sued for negligence by an unnamed woman.
The lawsuit claims that the Emmy winner ignored a stop sign in Santa Barbara County on October 16, 2023, and “t-boned” another vehicle.
The plaintiff insists she had stopped, checked carefully, and then pulled forward when Ellen suddenly ploughed into her without warning.
Reportedly, the woman suffered “multiple serious personal injuries” along with mounting medical bills.
In addition, court filings contend that the comedian's driving “fell below the standard of care of a reasonable person” and is seeking unspecified damages.
Notably, the legal drama casts a shadow over Ellen’s new life across the pond.
