Priyanka Chopra reacts to Zohran Mamdani’s groundbreaking victory

Indian actress Priyanka Chopra couldn’t hide her excitement after Zohran Mamdani made history with his groundbreaking win in New York City.

The 43-year-old global star, who has appeared in several Hollywood films such as Baywatch, Isn’t It Romantic, and The Matrix Resurrections, took to her Instagram Stories to express her pride as Zohran, the son of celebrated filmmaker Mira Nair, became New York City’s first Muslim and youngest-ever mayor.

Sharing a screenshot of the 3-year-old politician’s heartfelt thank-you message to his supporters, Priyanka wrote: “Congratulations to Zohran Mamdani, New York City’s 111th Mayor! History created. Congratulations, Mira Nair.”

Notably, Nick Jonas wife's post instantly went viral, with fans flooding social media to praise the her for spotlighting such a powerful and inspiring milestone. 

Many hailed the victory as a proud moment for South Asians around the world.

For those unfamiliar, Zohran is a lawmaker of Indian origin, born in Kampala, Uganda, to acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair and academic Mahmood Mamdani. 

At just five, his family relocated to Cape Town, South Africa, before settling in New York City.

He later attended the Bronx High School of Science and went on to earn a degree in Africana Studies from Bowdoin College in 2014.

Now, he’s carved his name into the city’s political history books.
