Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling has paid a heartfelt tribute to legendary production designer Stuart Craig.
Craig passed away on Sunday, aged 83, after a 14-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.
News of his death was reportedly confirmed on Wednesday.
The Oscar-winning visionary brought Hogwarts and the wizarding world to life on screen.
He worked on all eight Harry Potter blockbusters between 2001 and 2011 and later helped design the franchise’s theme parks.
The 60-year-old novelist said: “Working with Stuart Craig was one of the privileges of my life. He was a true visionary and conjured the wizarding world for the screen as nobody else could have done.
He was also one of the nicest people you could ever hope to meet. My deepest condolences to his loved ones.”
Over a dazzling career spanning more than four decades, Craig won three Academy Awards and earned eight further Oscar nominations, including four for Harry Potter.
He leaves behind his wife, Patricia, daughters Becky and Laura, and four grandchildren.
