Orlando Bloom, who recently split from singer Katy Perry, has opened up about the extreme physical and mental toll he endured.
The 48-year-old actor made a shocking revelation that he lost over 50 pounds for his latest role in the upcoming psychological drama, The Cut.
Bloom, best known for his role in Pirates of the Caribbean, admitted the intense preparation left him drained, irritable, and struggling with intrusive thoughts.
Speaking to ITV, he described feeling “mentally and physically exhausted” during the shoot.
“I had no energy or brain power. Just mentally, physically, I was hangry. I was a horrible person to be around,” he confessed.
The Lord of the Rings star followed a strict regime devised by nutritionist Philip Goglia, famous for working with Christian Bale.
His daily meals were reduced from three to two, leaving him surviving on just tuna and cucumber in the final weeks.
He recalled clinging to his protein powder as his last source of sustenance.
Reflecting on the ordeal, he admitted, “Turns out you can’t sleep when you’re hungry. It’s really a commentary on the lengths a person will go to have that second shot.”
The Cut follows Bloom as a retired boxer chasing redemption, whose obsession pushes him to the edge of reality.
Orlando Bloom stars in two 2025 films: Deep Cover, an action-comedy, and The Cut, a psychological drama.
