Charlie Puth reflected on his musical inspirations when he was younger, and ended up talking about Britney Spears.
The We Don’t Talk Anymore singer said that he remembers the time he first heard one of the 43-year-old’s iconic tracks, and how it paved the way for his career.
During the promotion of his “INKubator” songwriting contest with BIC, the songwriter noted, “I was in sixth grade, and I was just like, ‘This is such a fascinating production with the strings layered with the fast-paced drums,” to Us Weekly.
Charlie added that he sensed it felt urgent despite not having knowledge of music production, and credited the iconic track saying that it “was probably the catalyst,” of his career in music.
The Attention hitmaker also recalled the first times he heard Britney’s other notable songs Baby One More Time, and Oops! … I Did It Again, and its timeless and incredible sound both then and now.
He stated that although the “Princess of Pop” has been vocal about not returning to music, he is open to producing tracks for her if she so wishes.
Charlie is currently working on his fourth studio album, after he released Charlie in 2022.
