Emily In Paris’s fifth season had just dropped its first look into the highly anticipated show’s upcoming season, but an unexpected happening on the set has left everyone shaken.
The assistant director for the series, Diego Borella, has reportedly collapsed on set and passed away at 47, while the cast and crew was wrapping up the scenes for the season.
As per La Repubblica that broke the news, he was rushed to the hospital around 7pm on Thursday, soon after the sudden fall but the Venetian writer unfortunately didn’t make it.
The cause of death for Borella is apparently a heart attack, and filming has effectively been halted following the death.
Emily in Paris was supposed to finish filming until August 25, and with a few days still remaining to the date, it is as of now difficult to say if the newest season will come out on the scheduled date.
The show was supposed to begin airing on December 18 on Netflix, with the plot of the impending season following Emily (played by Lily Collins) after she fell in love with an Italian man Marcello (played by Eugenio Franceschini).
The creator, Darren Star made a reference to Charles Dickens' novel, saying, “'This season is a Tale of Two Cities. Rome and Paris. Straddling both, Emily takes love and life to the next level.”
