Adam Scott revealed that he almost quit acting after losing the Six Feet Under role to Michael C. Hall.
The 52-year-old actor admitted that although Hall gave an “incredible” performance, missing the role of David Fisher, which ran from 2001 to 2005, made him question his career.
While speaking to Amy Poehler on her Good Hang podcast, the Severance star said, “I thought it might be time to step back and rethink things.”
He described the disappointment as “painful,” with Poehler jokingly comparing the show’s success to an incredibly cruel situation.
Scott later appeared in a guest role on the series during its second season, playing Hall’s on-screen boyfriend.
He described the experience as enjoyable and praised his co-star but admitted it was a challenging moment in his career.
Reflecting on the missed opportunity, the Party Down actor said he wasn’t yet ready for such a major role and believed it worked out for the best.
On the podcast, Poehler revealed that the Parks and Recreation finale was inspired by Six Feet Under’s iconic ending.
The Emmy-nominated actor has since built a successful career with standout performances in projects including Big Little Lies, Step Brothers.
Adam Scott, the actor, is married to Naomi Scott (née Sablan). They have two children, Graham and Frankie.
