Brad Pitt, currently facing legal issues with his ex-wife Angelina Jolie, has achieved a new personal box office milestone with F1: The Movie, which premiered worldwide last month.
The feature has reportedly earned over $552 million globally, overtaking Pitt’s previous highest-grossing film, World War Z (2013), which took $540 million.
The project was co-produced by the seven-time Formula 1 world champion and racing star Lewis Hamilton, and directed by Joe Kosinski.
Hamilton’s involvement brought genuine authenticity to the racing scenes, while the film’s financial success has renewed focus on the Fight Club actor’s accomplishments.
Reflecting on the production, the British racing driver described the lengthy and demanding journey behind the film.
“It’s been four years in the making — a huge effort, particularly for Joe [Kosinski],” he explained.
“It meant time away from family, time apart from your children.”
He also stressed that rushing a follow-up would not serve the story well.
“Most sequels tend to be far inferior,” the F1 champion added. “If we create a sequel, we’ll invest the necessary time to make it truly exceptional.”
Pitt stars as Sonny Hayes, alongside Damson Idris in the role of Joshua Pierce.
The 61-year-old Hollywood star is currently engaged in a legal dispute with Jolie over their French vineyard, Château Miraval.
