Josh Hutcherson discussed a possible return to the Hunger Games franchise, in the prequel that revolves around the character of his mentor, Haymitch.
The Bridge to Terabithia actor’s counterpart, Jennifer Lawrence, who plays the character of Katniss Everdeen has confirmed her return for the highly anticipated The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping.
Following her reprisal, fans of the series were curious about The Beekeeper star’s return, and he has spoken up about it in a conversation with Brit + Co.
In the issue published on August 1, Josh stated, "That'd be cool,” before adding about his casting rumours, "No, I know nothing in that world right now."
The 32-year-old then went on to praise the dystopian series regardless of any future involvement in the beloved movies, "Hunger Games is amazing, and I've loved it for many years and I will love it forever."
Josh has appeared in four of the movies in the franchise, and no new actor has been announced as of yet to play his character, Peeta Mellark from District 12 in the movie slated for release in 2026.
Notably, the movie has an impressive star-studded cast that includes Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Jesse Plemons, Jeffrey Wright and Maya Hawke.
The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping follows Katniss Everdeen’s mentor Haymitch Abernathy as he navigates the 50th Hunger Games after being chosen.
