DC Studios co-head James Gunn has no time to put his feet up. After wrapping up the Superman press tour, he’s gearing up for another one, this time for Peacemaker Season 2, all while working on a follow-up to his Superman film.
In a lively social media exchange with fans, Gunn revealed that following the release of the Peacemaker Season 2 trailer, he’ll be heading out on a full press tour for the series.
The Guardians of the Galaxy director also shared that he’s currently writing a new Superman project.
“Peacemaker press!! And sequel writing!!!” Gunn posted on Threads when asked if he’d have any downtime after Superman hits screens.
However, Gunn’s mention of a Superman sequel left fans confused, since he had previously denied that a direct Man of Steel sequel was part of the new DC Universe.
Clearing things up, the writer-director confirmed that while Superman plays a major role in his upcoming film, it’s not a traditional sequel.
“This is the same movie. Superman has a major role. It’s not Superman 2,” Gunn clarified.
On July 13, Gunn was asked when Superman 2 would be released. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, he replied, “Define Superman 2.”
“What I’m working on is in some way... I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily,” Gunn said, keeping things deliberately vague.
