Kim Kardashian’s latest shapewear face mask drop sparked comparisons to Hannibal Lecter’s eerie headwear, and the actor who played the character, Sir Anthony Hopkins, has given out his thoughts on the matter.
The Silence of the Lambs star took to his Instagram to directly address the Skims founder in his Hannibal-esque message, which was cherished by fans of the character and its actor.
In the clip, the two-time Academy Award winner could be seen wearing the Seamless Sculpt Face Wrap, and recreating his bone-chilling mannerisms and voice to say, ““Hello Kim, I’m already feeling 10 years younger. Goodbye.”
The 83-year-old also added in the caption, "Thank you, Kim. Don’t be afraid to come over for dinner @kimkardashian @skims,” which serves as a dangerous reference to one of the moments in the 1991 horror move.
In the award-winning film, Hannibal (who is a cannibal) invites FBI Academy student, Clarice M. Starling, played by Jodie Foster to come over to his house with sinister intentions.
“Are you having Kim for dinner???” a fan wrote in the comments, to add on to Hopkins’ dark humour.
Meanwhile another urged the Kardashian to respond, by writing, “This is the the best publicity you could get @kimkardashian ! lol. You have to reply. This is so epic!” with a laughing crying emoji.
Notably, the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum has responded by reposting the reel to her story with the caption, “I’M SCREAMING!!!!!”
No, Hannibal Lecter is not real, and is a fictional character created by author Thomas Harris in his book series about the cannibalistic serial killer and former forensic psychiatrist.
