The Foo Fighters have finally found a new drummer in Ilan Rubin, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter.
He is best known for working with Nine Inch Nails, for whom he played as the touring drummer since 2009. He was even inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with them in 2020, which made him the youngest inductee at 32.
Rubin has also been the drummer for Angels & Airwaves, occasionally working with Danny Elfman too.
This decision comes two months after their controversial decision to part ways with drummer Josh Freese, who joined in 2023 to fill the shoes of the group’s original, the late Taylor Hawkins.
It has also been confirmed by the outlet through a rep that Freese will be making a return to the Nine Inch Nails.
The group shared a photo of the drummer with the caption, “let’s f****** go.”
It has not been confirmed whether Rubin has joined the Foo Fighters as a touring drummer or a full member.
According to reports, Rubin informed Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor that he has “accepted a job with another band.” However, the Foo Fighters have refused to comment on the news.
