A businessman from Miami named Kris Izquierdo is suing rapper Chris Brown for trademark violations.
He is the founder of Breezy Swim which is an event that he first launched in 2018, as well as Breezy Bowl, a runway fashion show that he began producing in 2023.
“It’s something that is different than any other runway show and Miami Swim Week,” he explained. “We have models from all over the world. Our trademark slogan is Everybody is a Bikini Body. It’s something that’s really had an impact here in Miami.”
He has gone on to file a 17 page complaint against Brown, Live Nation and more after he named his ongoing tour Breezy Bowl XX.
“I was confused,” Izquierdo continued. “I’m like, should I be happy, excited, mad, angry.”
His attorney John Hoover added, “It’s just a little unfortunate that someone with some many resources wouldn’t have done their due diligence to know that.”
The businessman has been selling Breezy branded merch, which has been trademarked and created by him. Now, Brown is also selling Breezy-branded items.
“It’s crazy to think an artist such as Chris Brown, who I grew up listening to, would adopt the name Breezy Bowl for his worldwide tour,” Izquierdo remarked. “It’s humbling and at the same time confusing. They create a lot of confusion for our customers and fan base.”
“There’s only some many words in the English language, but to pick the exact two, and choose to launch your show in the same city, even have your afterparty at the same venue where the last Breezy Bowl was held, there’s a lot of overlap there that doesn’t make sense,” elaborated Hoover.
