Cleo Laine, who was known for her scat singing style went to eternal rest at the age of 97.
The news of her death was revealed by The Stables, a British arts center, which announced that the legendary vocalist passed away on Thursday, July 24, at her home in Wavendon, England.
According to the report of People magazine, David Meadowcroft chairperson of The Stables stated, "Dame Cleo was a remarkable performer who was loved by audiences around the world and her commitment to ensuring young people had access to great music and music education will continue through the work of The Stables."
In contrast, Monica Ferguson, chief executive and artistic director of the late star’s cultural center said, “Dame Cleo was admired greatly by fans, other musicians and by The Stables staff and volunteers," the statement continued.
She wrapped up the tribute adding, "She will be greatly missed but her unique talent will always be remembered."
It is pertinent to note that the cause of death of the Grammy Award winner didn't disclosed yet.
Notably, in 1970 Laine co-founded creative space along with her deceased husband John Dankworth.
According to RTE, vocalist Cleo Laine gained widespread recognition from her UK chart-topping hit song You'll Answer to Me in 1961.
