A beloved Fijian-Hawaii international artist named George Brooks Veikoso has passed away at the age of 55.
Commonly known as Fiji, he passed away on Wednesday, 23 July while surrounded by his family.
He was widely loved and treasured in the Hawaiian music industry as a songwriter, singer, recording artist as well as mentor for up and coming artists.
Having been born on May 10, 1970, he used to sing in his church before he moved to Hawaii.
He went on to release his first album named Evolution in 1994, enjoying the success of several hit songs including Lia, Symphony of Love, Nasty, and Good Thing.
In 1996, his album Born & Raised saw major success, topping several charts.
The singer headlined the annual Birthday Bash event joined by Kapena, giving performances across the Pacific and along the West Coast.
He unlocked another major achievement in 1998 by winning two Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, one for Male Vocalist and the other for Favorite Entertainer of the Year.
He then won the Best Pacific International Artist Award at the Pacific Music Awards in 2014.
