One of the doctors who was accused of having supplied ketamine to late actor Matthew Perry before his death in 2023 has pleaded guilty.

According to federal prosecutors, he has admitted guilt to four counts of ketamine distribution.

Based on a statement from the US Attorney’s Office of the Central District of California, Salvador Plasencia is set to face a statutory maximum sentence of ten years in federal prison for each count that he is being charged with.

His hearing is set to take place on December 3, until which time he will remain free on bond, having said through his attorneys that he plans to surrender his medical license within six weeks.

In a statement given on his behalf to CNN, he “is profoundly remorseful for the treatment decisions he made while providing ketamine to Matthew Perry.”

It continues, “He is fully accepting responsibility by pleading guilty to drug distribution” and accepts “his failure to protect Mr. Perry, a patient who was especially vulnerable due to addiction.”

From Santa Monica, California, he is one of five doctors accused of having been involved in the actor’s death.

Prosecutors have said that an underground network of suppliers played a part in supplying the substances to Perry.
