Meghan Markle left fans puzzled this week after sharing a cryptic Instagram Story that many thought was a hidden message for Queen Camilla.
The Duchess of Sussex posted a video showing boxes of her As Ever rosé wine with the caption: "Sending birthday love (both near and far) to my ladies."
The post coincided with Queen Camilla’s 78th birthday, sparking wild speculation online about whether Meghan was sending a cheeky birthday message to her mother-in-law.
But now, Meghan’s friends have stepped in to clear the air, and Queen Camilla wasn’t involved at all.
It turns out the wine gifts were for Meghan’s longtime friend Heather Dorak and entrepreneur Jamie Kern Lima, both of whom celebrated birthdays recently.
Dorak posted her own Instagram Story featuring the wine box, complete with a sprig of lavender, writing: "You know how to make a friend feel special @meghan."
Meanwhile, Kern Lima, who also lives near Meghan and Harry in Montecito, shared her birthday box adorned with flowers and peaches, thanking the Duchess: "@meghan thank you for the most magical birthday basket! Our friendship is a gift as is your beautiful soul!"
The clarification comes after some royal watchers joked about the cryptic timing of Meghan’s post, with one writing: "Pretending that Meghan was alluding to [Camilla] is pathetic and hilarious. LOL."
Another added: "M sending Camilla birthday wishes and a bottle of wine wasn't something I was expecting, but here we are."
