After turning Night At the Museum into a blockbuster family franchise, 21 Lapse is set to begin the working on a reimagining for 20th Century Studios after two decades of halt.
According to Deadline, Tripper Clancy will be tapped to write the script for the upcoming reboot. The WGA Award winner is also known for writing each instalment in the Die Hart franchise.
However, further details regarding the cast and plot are under wraps. The movie will come up with a fresh story set at the museum with all the new characters.
Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will take the helm on production responsibilities along with Emily Morris who will oversee the project for the company.
Originally launched when 20th Century Studios was 20th Century Fox, Night at the Museum franchise is based upon 1993 children’s book by Milan Trenc.
The story revolves around a night watchman whose job at the natural history museum spiralled into mayhem when the museum magically came to life after dark.
Released in 2006, the movie has three sequels: Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian (2009), Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) and the animated feature Night at the Museum: Kahmunrah Rises Again (2022) directed by Levy.
The casting details of the upcoming movie are still unknown as per official announcement.
