Prior to her tragic death, Dame had raised more than £11million for cancer research. She titled her husband, “very eligible bachelor” before her death.

Dame Deborah James was diagnosed with bowl cancer at the age of 35 in December 2016. The couple got married in 2008 and has a family of two children.
